YearUp’s mission is to bridge the opportunity divide arising from social and economic disadvantages faced by urban youth upon entering the workforce. The organization’s work focuses on providing the skills, experience, and support needed to empower participants to be successful in work and careers, including the pursuit of meaningful higher learning. YearUp’s goal is for each participant to achieve economic self-sufficiency and personal growth.
YearUp’s work has expanded throughout the United States. This growth has brought opportunities for career success to thousands of youth. As a founding board member of Year Up and the organization’s first major funder, the Trefler Foundation’s Trustee, Pam Trefler has focused a significant component of the Foundation’s resources on increasing opportunities for young adults of low-income circumstances. With the Foundation’s support, YearUp has been able to reach more youth through grant-funded scholarships and expansion to cities throughout the United States.
