Future Chefs prepares urban teens for work and life after high school by providing early employment and educational opportunities in the restaurant industry, transferable skills training, and ongoing coaching and support. The organization’s ultimate goals are to create pathways for young adults to escape poverty, to lessen the skills gap, to provide viable post-secondary education options, and to develop a clear career path into the culinary arts. This work assists participants with their transition into the working world that is both personally fulfilling and economically sustainable.
The Trefler Foundation was an early advocate for Future Chefs and has continued to provide basic operational support as the organization has grown and developed. The Foundation’s connection to Future Chefs reflects a commitment to strengthening the important relationship between educational and vocational learning and career success.
