Epiphany School is a tuition-free independent middle school that weaves rigorous academics, strong moral and social development, and physical health and well being into a comprehensive program of support and growth tailored to each child’s needs. Epiphany’s students are from economically disadvantaged families in Boston, including students in the foster care system. Epiphany School offers an innovative learning community structured to help students thrive. A key component of the Epiphany School model is its residency-based training program for aspiring teachers who are committed to serving urban schools.
The Foundation helped Epiphany School equip the new teaching kitchen in the school’s expanded facility, which also houses its Early Learning Center, Graduate Support Facilities, and expanded accommodations for new teaching fellows. This support reflects the Foundation’s commitment to the value of healthy eating as one cornerstone of academic success. Equally, the teaching kitchen creates an environment where families can experience the social and emotional connection of shared meals, thereby fostering positive bonds between parents and children, and among neighbors.
