The Dimock Center delivers high quality, comprehensive health care to low-income communities in the Boston area. The Dimock Center takes a holistic approach, which includes providing access to basic healthcare, eye and dental services, OB/GYN care, behavioral health services, and pediatric healthcare. In addition, the Dimock Center offers early intervention, services for those living with HIV/AIDS, and an in-patient detox center for residential addiction treatment. Beyond meeting the health needs of the community, the Dimock Center prepares adults for the General Education Development (GED) test and offers a free workforce development program.
The Dimock Center engages people of all ages in promoting health and fitness. A signature event at the Dimock Center is the Road to Wellness 5k Walk/Run held every September. The event draws participants from around the neighborhood and around the city and has become a community-building event as well as a health promotion event. In partnership with the Trefler Foundation, the Dimock Center created the Teen Ambassador Program for the Road to Wellness, which has the goal of increasing teen involvement in the event and engaging teens in other wellness activities. The Teen Ambassador Program promotes confidence, strengthens communication skills, and enhances the teens’ own commitment to pursue healthy lifestyles.
