Gaining Ground, located in Concord, MA, is a nonprofit farm that provides free, high-quality organic produce to organizations that focus on hunger relief in the greater Boston area and eastern Massachusetts. The farm is staffed by hundreds of volunteers who not only cultivate the crops on the farm, but also learn about the complexities of food insecurity and sustainable farming practices. The produce reaped from each harvest is provided at no cost to food pantries, meal programs, and shelters within 20 miles of the farm. Food is delivered within 24 hours of harvest.
The Trefler Foundation has supported Gaining Ground’s growth and continued success. Support for this organization reflects the Foundation’s interest in and commitment to access to healthy food for all, especially those who are most in need. Over the past few years, Gaining Ground has implemented a plan for careful organizational development, which included hiring an Executive Director. The Foundation’s support has helped Gaining Ground through this essential process.
