Education & Youth Development
The Trefler Foundation’s historic interest in education and youth development focused on public schools. Today, the Foundation continues its deep commitment to education as a powerful tool for individual and community change. Education is one component of building a strong future for inner city youth, but it, alone, cannot provide a full complement of services and supports. The Foundation has always partnered with youth serving agencies to address the social and emotional needs of young people as well.
The Foundation’s portfolio includes:
- ReServe Greater Boston, which is helping Chelsea public middle school students with academic and other supports
- The Youth Violence Prevention Funders Learning Collaborative, which brings together funders, public sector agencies, and nonprofits to create a comprehensive approach to reducing violence in Boston
